Floor Plan
PrewritingStudents will complete their prewriting and brainstorming by the bookshelf, and window seating area. The students need to have access to new ideas to write about. The students also need to be comfortable when searching for new ideas to write about, thusly the students will have leeway to get up and go to the bookshelf when they want and will be able to sit where they would like discussing with other students. Students will also have access to laptops in order to do further research on possible topics to write about.
Quiet WritingStudents will be encouraged to do their quiet writing where they feel most comfortable. They can write at their desk, at the stand up (white) desk, or sit in the window and write. As long as my students are writing or recording their thoughts somewhere, I will be happy. During this time I will be writing as well in order to model what the students should be doing and to discourage the students from asking me questions, stopping their flow of thinking.
Sharing and DiscussionMuch sharing will be done in the students seats as they discuss the writing process and any other questions they may have. Small group discussions and sharing may be done at the white table and in the window seating.
ConferencingConferencing will normally happen at my desk, but if I find the student may be intimidated by coming to me, I will meet them where they are at with my conference caddy.

Publishing
Students will publish their written work in front of the class and on the "Author's Wall" (publishing board).
Editing
Students can edit anywhere in the classroom. I want them to be constantly referencing the plethora of anchor charts on the walls in order to edit conventions and other traits of writing.
